A day under Pantelleria’s sky: experience the sunrise, the sunset, and the starry night

Sky and stars

Sunrise: facing east

Here, the day begins gently, like a light breeze rising from the sea. To experience the sunrise in its most authentic form, head to Cala Levante or take in the view from Cuddía Randázzo.

The sun rises behind the Elephant Arch, brushing the horizon like a quiet promise. Everything turns gold and still—an ideal moment to breathe slowly, take a swim, or start your morning walk.

Sunset: to the west

As the day begins to fade, find one of the natural terraces that face west. At Balata dei Turchi, the cliffs glow with copper hues. From the district of Rekhale, the sun drifts slowly toward Tunisia, leaving streaks of pink and blue across the sky.

Night: everywhere

When darkness falls, Pantelleria turns off its lights and lets the stars take over. In the national park, the night is wild and unfiltered. The sky is so clear you can see the Milky Way with the naked eye, count shooting stars, and trace the paths of wandering planets. Climb up to Montagna Grande or head to the Lake of Venus, where the sky reflects in the water and seems to multiply. In Pantelleria, you don’t need to search for wonder. Just look up and discover a sky glowing at sunset, or magnetic and infinite at night.
