The Castle of Pantelleria, known as Castello Barbacane, overlooks the ancient harbor in a strategic position. Built of local lava stone, it features an irregular layout with corner towers and thick walls. The building’s origins are uncertain, but it may date back to the Byzantine era; its current appearance is largely the result of Aragonese renovations in the 15th century. From the terrace, there is a panoramic view of the harbor and the Strait of Sicily.
