Cuddia di Mida

Montagna Grande

View on Google Maps

From the upper Sibà parking area, a panoramic trail (971C) climbs through holm oaks and pines on the flank of Montagna Grande (836 m) up to Cuddia di Mida (592 m), a small secondary cone. Along the route, fumarolic vents emerge, revealing the latent vitality of the volcano; in open spots, the view embraces Lake Venus and the Mediterranean. From the summit of the still-intact crater, one returns by following trail 972 and then unpaved tracks that close the loop. It’s a short but richly geological trek, filled with the scents of the undergrowth and vistas sweeping across the entire island.
