Martingana is a small bay on the southeastern side of Pantelleria, far from the town center. It takes its name from a protruding rock that resembles the silhouette of the sailing vessel called a “martingana.” The beach, made up of light-colored sand and surrounded by cliffs, is sheltered from the wind: the calm water makes it ideal for swimming and various marine sports, including diving and snorkeling. Inland, trails depart toward natural caves and the site of the Byzantine Tombs.
