Mount Gibele, one of the highest elevations on Pantelleria, is an extinct volcano reaching about 700 m. A panoramic trail leads to the caldera, now carpeted with native vegetation. Along the way, you encounter the Favara Grande, a fissure from which steam jets emerge at nearly 100 °C. In the rainy months, a temporary pond forms on the caldera floor, frequented by flamingos. On the eastern ridge, the ruins of an ancient lookout post offer spectacular sunrises. An ideal route for those who love nature, geology, and scenic vistas.
